Fire Hydrant Flushing, April 26-May 7

The City of Otsego Water Department will flush all fire hydrants April 26th through May 7th. This is done to remove any stale water that may be in the system and insure that the fire hydrants are working properly. You may experience some reduced pressure and discoloration during this process. If discoloration occurs, let your water run until it clears.

City Election Petition Forms (5/26/09)

Petition forms are now available at the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 117 E. Orleans St., for election to the Otsego City Commission. The City Election will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Three City Commission seats will be open for election in November.

The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to four year terms and the third candidate will be elected to a two year term.

In order to qualify for the office of City Commissioner, a candidate must be:

  • A resident of the City of Otsego for not less than one (1) year immediately preceding his or her election.
  • A registered voter.
Nominations for office are determined by petition signed by not less than 40 registered voters of the City of Otsego. Petitions need to be submitted to the City Clerk's office no later than Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. [Continued]

Brownfield Presentation and Open House (01/19/09)

The City of Otsego would like to invite you to a Brownfield Presentation and Open House on January 19, 2009, at 6:00 P.M. at Otsego City Hall located at 117 E. Orleans Street, Otsego, Michigan. The goal of this meeting is to acquaint all interested citizens, organizations, and other stakeholders in the City with our new Brownfield redevelopment initiative funded by a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfield redevelopment grant. In addition, we want to identify any potential Brownfield in the City based on public input. [Continued]

Sewer Overflow Or Backup (3/15/02)

If an overflow or backup of a sewage disposal system or storm water system occurs at your residence, a written claim must be filed with the City of Otsego within 45 days after the overflow or backup was discovered. Claim forms may be obtained from the City Clerk's office. Notice should be mailed to City of Otsego, 117 E. Orleans Street, Otsego, Michigan 49078-1199. Failure to provide the required notice within 45 days will prevent recovery of damages. Contact Otsego City Hall at 692-3391 immediately upon discovery of an overflow or backup.
